Hull City
Hull City spent four of the nine seasons from 2009/10 to 2017/18 in the Premier League and five in the Championship. Their best finish was 16th, in 2013/14. They didn’t win a major trophy. Over those nine summers they paid £76.7m in transfer fees and took in £86.1m, a net profit of £9.4m. In 115.football they get City’s £900m instead.
Hull City went down from the Premier League three times in this period and came back up twice, which is a lot of packing and unpacking. Down in 2009/10, up as runners-up in 2012/13, down in 2014/15, up via the play-offs in 2015/16, down once more in 2016/17. In between, they reached the 2014 FA Cup final and lost to Arsenal.
The summer of 2017 was brutal. Harry Maguire left for Leicester for £12m and Andy Robertson for Liverpool for £8m, with Sam Clucas off to Swansea. Hull finished 18th in the Championship that season. Earlier sales included Shane Long and James Chester; the big signings were Abel Hernández for £10m and Jake Livermore.
Maguire and Robertson in the same back four is the obvious 115.football fantasy. With £900m, Hull stop selling, stop bouncing, and give the Premier League a proper go.
